The Development Micro Finance sector (DMF) has been creating jobs in South Africa for about 25 years.  In this country there is a distinction between ‘consumption’ microfinance (loans given mainly to the ‘working’ poor) for consumption purposes, and ‘development’ microfinance (loans given to micro-entrepreneurs - self-employed persons) for productive purposes.

INAISE Conference was a success

Held on June 1 at l'Usine in Paris/ France, the INAISE Conference covered the topic of "How can Social Finance Help Address Climate Change" and was reported to be a success for all participants.

Ray Murphy Bursary for Social Finance in Ireland

An emaill communicated to INAISE by our member Clann Credo states:
We are very pleased to announce that the Ray Murphy Memorial Bursary committee is accepting applications until 20th April 2012
The Bursary was launched by Clann Credo - the Social Investment Fund and Philanthropy Ireland in 2010 to encourage postgraduate research into philanthropy, social finance and related areas.
