Queensland Foundation is an organization created in 1996. Its aim is to work in the Social Economy and the Environment.

Background
Queensland Foundation is an initiative of the Queensland University, it was created  in June 1996. The Foundation started its activities with a shared capital of 2,5 million of Haitian Gourds (Euro 50 000). Its main objective is to promote the investment and the socially responsible saving.

Structure
Queensland Foundation has two offices in Haiti, but its customers are situated in the ten departments of Haiti. In Haiti, the main decision authority is the High Board of directors where the shareholders, the customers and the Haitian public are represented by two delegates each.

This High Board appoints the Board of directors which supervises the daily work and appoints the President. The Board is composed of a President, an Executive Director, an Administrator – Accountant, and a public relations manager.

Jean-Claude Dorsainvil manages the Foundation since 2000.

Activities
Queensland Foundation runs or manages Projects or programs on its behalf or on behalf of the Queensland university, it is active in the following sectors :

  • Education and Culture: Universities, primary and secondary schools, Education for adults, socio cultural projects.

  • Environment: Environmental protection, production of alternative energies in rural areas, waste transformation and processing, Research-Development (R&D).

  • Agriculture: sustainable organic farming, production and distribution of biological products in rural areas, farms.

  • Health care and social responsibility: Hospital complex for the poor, projects for the underprivileged people, fight against the HIV/AIDS.

  • Fair Trade: Savings and credit Cooperative, Social Security (CESSOC). Loans to small traders, small and medium-sized businesses, small producers in Haïti.

  • Micro-Credit CESSOC: granting small credits to small entrepreneurs graduated from Haîtian Universities, to the young entrepreneurs, life insurance, Social Security.

In order to realise its mission, its programs and projects, the Queensland Foundation relies on the support of Haitian and foreign personalities or, international institutions having a detailed knowledge of the problems of Haiti.

N.B : The Queensland Foundation doesn’t work like a Bank.
